Pantone Colour of the Year

09 December 2016
By Kim Sullivan

The Pantone Colour Institute has announced that their colour of the year for 2017 is Greenery (Pantone 15- 0343).

Every year the institute chooses a symbolic colour, which serves as a snapshot of what they see taking place in our global culture- an expression of a mood and an attitude.

Last year Pantone surprised us all by picking two colours, pale blue Serenity and dusky pink Rose Quartz.  However this year they have returned to tradition and picked just one zesty green colour.

Greenery (Pantone 15-0343) is a refreshing and revitalizing shade symbolic of new beginnings.

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute said: “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment”.

“Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalise, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose” said Eiseman.

As a natural colour Greenery is a very versatile shade that lends itself to many colour combinations.  Pantone has paired Greenery with neutrals, brights, deeper shades, pastels and metallics.
