Pantone Colour of the Year for 2018
The Pantone Colour Institute has announced that their colour of the year for 2018 is Ultra Violet (Pantone 18-3838).
Every year the institute chooses a symbolic colour, which serves as a snapshot of what they see taking place in our global culture- an expression of a mood and an attitude.
Last year Pantone chose the refreshing Greenery (Pantone 15-0343) for 2017 which symbolised new beginnings. This year the Ultra Violet symbolises experimentation and non-conformity.
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute said: “We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination”
“It is this kind of creative, inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level” said Eiseman.
The inventive and imaginative, Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us towards the future.
Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute said: “The Pantone Colour of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today.”
